The manufacturer will also
turn and polish the product, pickle it, and apply coatings to prevent rusting
and corrosion. The final material will then be cut into the desired length or
sizes and shipped to the customer. While the uses of Stamping Part span
across various industries and products because of its unique tensile strength
capabilities and heat resistance, a few industries require cold finished steel
more than others for manufacturing their products. Whether you're looking at
your refrigerator, dishwasher, or furnace, there's a good chance that many
items in your home required cold drawn steel in their design in order to operate
properly.
While the unique strength
and durability can be a factor in this, it is often due to the fact that cold
finished steel is more visually appealing than other similar types of material.
The auto industry requires a large amount of cold finished products for
manufacturing a variety of car parts. Parts of the engine motor and the frame
of the car all require cold drawn steel because of its resistance to heat and
unique tensile strength capabilities.
Boats, ATV's, and even
lawnmowers also demand the product. Cold drawn steel is often used in the
manufacturing of buildings and homes, particularly where the surface can be
seen. Many I and T beams and railroad tracks are made from hot rolled products,
which is very durable, but is not visually appealing as cold finished products,
and doesn't need super precise measurements. Because steel that is cold
finished is stronger, it is also used for construction purposes where hot
rolled products may not be quite durable enough.
